TARABAI MODAK PRE - PRIMARY ENGLISH MEDIUM SCHOOL

Padmabhushan Smt. Tarabai Modak (19 April, 1892-1973) was born in Mumbai and graduated from the University of Mumbai in 1914. She worked as a Principal of a Women's College in Rajkot. Being a Social worker from Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, Balwadis were first developed by her, the first balwadi was started in Bordi a coastal village in Thane district of Maharashtra by Nutan Bal Shikshan Sangh. She was awarded Padma Bhushan in 1962 for her work in preschool education.

The school’s ethos like pride in our culture & values, without disrespecting other cultures are built upon the guidelines set by our founder. Padmabhushan Tarabai Modak. She maintained that, learning should be an enjoyable experience. Every toddler has his/her own potential. All we have to do is carve out the redundant part, create an urge in the child to explore, channalise his/her energies & help him/her think logically & express without inhibition.

The parent institute, Shishu Vihar Mandal was established by Padmabhushan Tarabai Modak on 3rd Sept, 1936 & has witnessed our country’s political & cultural history.
